EAGLE POINT — Eagle Point boys soccer coach Juan Palomares expected good things from his team this fall. But maybe not quite this good. The Eagles improved to 6-1 with a 3-0 victory over Henley in nonconference play on Tuesday. Eagle Point’s six wins are twice as many as any other Class 5A team in the state. They are ninth in the OSAA rankings. Henley is the No. 10 Class 4A team and has a 1-1 record. “It’s going surprisingly well,” said Palomares. Willamette Bearcats nearly scores back-to-back wins

Ivy Yeoh, Staff Writer  Willamette University and Corban University played each other to a draw at Sparks Field this past Friday, Sept. 6. On the following day, Saturday, Sept. 7, the Bearcats defeated Northwest Christian University (NCU) 3-0 at Sparks Field. On Friday, Corban and WU each took nine shots, but none made it in the net. The closest the Bearcats came was on a header by junior Max Berner-Hays at 87:13 following a corner kick. Berner-Hays sent his header past Corban goalie Nic Farr, but the ball went less than two feet wide of the left post.
